Commonwealth Local Government South Asia Conference:
Municipal finance for pro-poor and inclusive development
All local self-governments are under pressure to find new ways of raising finance for vital infrastructure projects and services that meet the needs of their citizens and stakeholders. This two-day conference will showcase innovative revenue-raising mechanisms featuring international examples of financing mechanisms, examples from India and South Asia, and look at how to access international funding for products and services.This conference will highlight successful, practical and re-employable examples of funding mechanisms from around the Commonwealth and from India, including:
The conference is being run by the Commonwealth Local Government Forum (CLGF) in cooperation with the Regional Centre for Urban and Environmental Studies (RCUES), Mumbai.It will feature case studies, business models and key note presentations from Asia, Australia, Canada, South Africa, and the UK to demonstrate real and practical business models that can be of immense value to sub-national governments across India and South Asia.
This is a must attend event for state ministers and secretaries, mayors and municipal commissioners, officials responsible for project proposals and funding applications, heads of training institutions, the international donor community and the private sector.
