Localising the MDGs

The Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) represent global commitments made by world leaders in the Millennium Declaration of 2000, to tackle the main global development challenges by 2015.

The eight MDGs are;

These goals break down into 21 quantifiable targets and 60 indicators.

UNDP emphasises that the MDGs are ‘an agreed set of goals that can only be achieved if all actors work together and do their part’, including local government. 

Projects

The Commonwealth Local Government Good Practice Scheme aimed to improve the delivery of local authority services, essential to the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals, through the spread of good practice
