Commonwealth local government conference 2003

HE President Thabo Mbeki, President of the Republic of South Africa, opened the 2003 Commonealth Local Government Conference.

More than 400 delegates from 37 Commonealth countries attended the conference including ministers, mayors, senior local government politicians and officials and representativives of the private sector and civil socisty. The conference, which took place at the Sammy Marks Centre in Pretoria, Tshwane, South Africa from 4-6 March 2003, was co-hosted by the City of Tshwane, the South African Local Government Association (SALGA) and the Government of South Africa.
