CLGF has members in more than 40 countries including ministries with responsibility for local government, local government associations, state and provincial governments, individual local authorities and an associate network of local governemnt research institutions and training and professional organisations.
This network of members is the foundation for CLGF's work and meeting its objectives. The network promotes partnerships between central, state/provincial and local government and encourages experience sharing, learning and good practice exchange to help members improve their local governemnt strucures and servicxes.
In addition to the bi-ennial Commonwealth Local Government Conferences, CLGF holds regional events and workshops, and keeps members informed through its quarterly newsletter, the CLGF e-news, CLGF Bulletin, annual reports and other publications. Through its wide network, CLGF can put members in contact with each other on specific issues and help develop partnerships and projects of mutual interest.
CLGF holds its General Meeting of members every two years. The meeting sets the overall workplan for CLGF and elects Board members for the following two years. The last General Meeting took place at Cardiff City Hall in Cardiff, United Kingdom on 18 March 2011.
