The Commonwealth Local Government Forum (CLGF), a membership organisation which works to promote and strengthen effective democratic local government throughout the Commonwealth and to encourage the exchange of good practice in local government structures and services, is seeking an Executive Assistant to provide executive and administrative support to the Secretary-General.

 

The candidate should have:

 

  • strong and proven interpersonal and communication skills
  • the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently and accurately
  • excellent experience in Microsoft Office

Systematic literature review on assessing the contribution of Local Economic Development to inclusive growth. Deadline for applications 29 July 2019

The Commonwealth Local Government Forum (CLGF) would like to commission a systematic literature review to inform a piece of work on ‘The relevance of Local Economic Development (LED) in value chain development, sustainable consumption and production, and market development for trade across the Commonwealth’. They would like to invite any academics with relevant experience and subject knowledge to submit an application including their CV, proposed protocols for the systematic review and a suggested budget. The purpose of the literature review is to provide the CLGF with a better understanding of how local government-facilitated LED activities contribute to sustainable livelihoods as part of value chain development, sustainable consumptions and production, and market development. Additionally, we would like to understand more how Commonwealth countries have adapted ILO or other norms for measuring job creation on a subnational level. The review to observe global good practice norms with and reflect this against on 13 Commonwealth focus countries from across West and Southern Africa and South Asia.

CLGF Regional Programme Officer (Southern Africa) NOW CLOSED

 

Location: Tshwane (South Africa)

 

The Commonwealth Local Government Forum (CLGF) is looking to employ a programme officer to support the delivery of its Southern Africa programme. The officer will be based at the South Africa Local Government Association (SALGA) offices in Tshwane (South Africa). Reporting to the Regional Programme Manager (Southern Africa), the programme officer will work closely with local and central government stakeholders and project partners in the region to support the successful planning, management, implementation, M&E; and reporting of CLGF’s work focused on strengthening local government, good governance, local economic development and the achievement of the SDGs. CLGF is looking for a good communicator to share the learning from the programme in an accessible way. The officer will work closely with project partners in Botswana, South Africa and Swaziland. Good project management skills, excellent relationship building, communication, and understanding of accessing and managing donor finance are essential.

 

Contract Term: 2 Years and a valid permit is required to work in South Africa.

 

Salary: £31,500-35,000
