Habitat III should reflect post-2015 localisation says CLGF

There is a substantial international consensus on the need to localise the post-2015 development agenda and this should be reflected in the preparations for Habitat III, said CLGF chairperson Mayor Lawrence Yule speaking at the opening consultation session of local and regional governments with the Secretary-General of UN Habitat III on 15 September.

CLGF calls for support for councils dealing with Ebola in Sierra Leone

CLGF is calling on councils in the UK and elsewhere to show their support for their counterparts in Sierra Leone as the Ebola crisis deepens. The effects of the epidemic are being felt acutely by local governments and have already had a devastating effect on the economy.

CLGF welcomes new patron

CLGF welcomes HE John Dramani Mahama, President of Ghana as its new honorary patron.  President Mahama is regarded as a communication expert, historian and writer. He has also served as a former Member of Parliament and Minister of State, and former Vice-President of the Republic of Ghana – during this time he had engaged with CLGF and been a strong supporter of the decentralisation process.
