CLGF joins hands with LGiU to set up a local government institute in Rwanda

The Commonwealth Local Government Forum (CLGF) and Local Government Information Unit (LGiU) have teamed up to take forward a new proposal for the development of a local government institute in Rwanda, in partnership with the Rwanda Association of Local Government Authorities (RALGA).

Greg Munro named as new CLGF Secretary-General

Dr Greg Munro has been named as the new CLGF Secretary-General by the Board of the Commonwealth Local Government Forum (CLGF). Dr Munro, a South African national, will take up his post with effect from August 2016, based at CLGF HQ in London. His will lead the organisation in meeting the challenges of localising the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, delivering a comprehensive programme for CLGF’s members in promoting local democracy and decentralisation and tackling key issues for local government internationally.

Strengthening local government’s role in the Caribbean

CLGF launched a new regional programme in the Caribbean at the 2016 Caribbean regional meeting on 21-23 March in Port of Spain. The meeting was hosted in collaboration with CALGA, the Trinidad and Tobago Ministry of Rural Development and Local Government and TTALGA.
