CLGF Pacific hosted the 2nd Pacific Local Government Forum in Honiara on 5-7 November. CLGF Chairperson Mayor Lawrence Yule and Secretary-General Carl Wright signed an MOU with the UK Department for International Development during the recent Executive Committee in London. The MOU follow the agreement on a £4.5 million four-year programme funded by DFID (UKAID) to improve governance and service delivery at local level in several areas of the Commonwealth including Africa and Asia from 2012-16.

CLGF's recently appointed Honorary Patron and the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Hon Kamla Persad-Bissessar made the official launch of the Caribbean Local Economic Development (CARILED) Program in Belize this week. CARILED is a six-year $23.2 million project in which local governments will utilize assets and human capital to stimulate economic growth, create jobs and develop the business sector.
