			<title>Practitioner training strengthens associations - 02 February 2012</title>

	The first set of regional trainings of the ARIAL programme -  a pan-ACP initiative, funded by the European Union, - took place in November and December 2011. 			<title>Commonwealth leaders show strong support for local government - 01 November 2011</title>

	The Commonwealth Local Government Forum (CLGF) has welcomed the outcomes of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Perth, Australia, 28-30 October, particularly the strong endorsement and support given by Commonwealth leaders to CLGF&rsquo;s work and the role of local government in the Commonwealth.</p>

			<title>CLGF calls on CHOGM to support democratic local government  - 20 October 2011</title>

	Members of the CLGF Executive Committee are calling on Commonwealth Heads of Government to maintain their commitment to the <em>Aberdeen Agenda: principles on good practice for local democracy and good governance</em>. The Executive Committee, meeting for the first time in London on 19-10 October, also called on the Heads of Government to recognise CLGF&rsquo;s work in promoting local democracy, good governance and local economic development.</p>

			<title>Representatives and members of CLGF meet Ghanas Vice-President - 27 July 2011</title>

	Representatives and members of CLGF met with Ghana&rsquo;s Vice-President Hon John Dramani Mahama during a recent CLGF seminar in Ghana. They informed him of the outcomes of the seminar and discussed greater cooperation on local government issues with Ghana and the region. Local government representatives from Ghana, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Africa and UK who had attended the workshop were part of the delegation.</p>

			<title>Good practice in Ghana - 22 July 2011</title>

				<![CDATA[<p>
	Hon Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, Minister of Local Government and Rural Development and member of the CLGF Board, opened the first of a series of Commonwealth workshops dealing with decentralisation and local government good practices. Ghana hosted the workshop in, Accra, 20-21 July through the National Association of Local Authorities of Ghana (NALAG) and the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development. </p>

			<title>Developing decentralisation in East Africa - 06 May 2011</title>
			<description>
				<![CDATA[<p>
	East African Community (EAC)  have agreed to set up a Local Government Forum for Eastern Africa to discuss decentralisation within the region and the challenges they face in developing strategies for strengthening local government. This was agreed at the closing of a regional meeting of local government ministers and local government representatives from the EAC and beyond, which took place in Kigali from 4-5 May.</p>

			<title>Commonwealth commits to local economic development - 22 March 2011</title>

	Commonwealth local authorities have pledged to develop partnerships with business, the private sector and development agencies to help their communities out of the recession. The &lsquo;Cardiff Consensus for Local Economic Development&rsquo;, agreed this week, also commits local government to become more strategic when developing local infrastructure, tourism and services.</p>

			<title>Commonwealth forum to debate health of cities - 10 June 2010</title>

	Nine Commonwealth cities are today meeting in Ahmedabad, India to discuss the challenges they are facing to provide basic services at a time of increasing population, urbanisation and mass migration and to share good practice in some of the solutions to be more effective. This is the first major meeting of the Commonwealth Local Government Forum Inclusive Cities Network which is being held in Ahmedabad from 10-12 June. </p>
