CHOGM 2018: priorities announced

20 September 2017

The themes and priorities for the 2018 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) were formally announced last night by the UK’s Prime Minister Teresa May; Prime Minister of Malta Dr Joseph Muscat; together with the Commonwealth Secretary-General.

Taking place in the UK next April, CHOGM will look at the following four themes:
• A more sustainable future
• A fairer future
• A more secure future
• A more prosperous future

The event also provided an opportunity to launch the 2018 CHOGM logo and website – http://www.CHOGM2018.org.uk

Joined at last night's reception by a host of young people from across the Commonwealth, the senior figures were able to hear first hand about their hopes and aspirations, and what the modern Commonwealth means to them.

CLGF’s flagship conference - CLGC2017 – takes place from 21-24 November in the Maltese capital, Valletta. The theme is about finding new and innovative strategies to boost local government’s finances to enable it to play its important role in development. Recommendations from this event will be fed into CHOGM2018.
