CLGF's Caribbean regional meeting in Trinidad

08 March 2016

CLGF is launching a new regional programme in the Caribbean and opens a small regional office in the Caribbean, which will be co-located with the Caribbean Association of Local Government Authorities (CALGA). The regional launch will take place alongside CLGF’s 2016 regional meeting in the Caribbean on 21-23 March in Port of Spain, hosted in collaboration with CALGA, the Trinidad and Tobago Ministry of Rural Development and Local Government and TTALGA.

The two-day meeting will be part of CLGF’s EU-funded work in the region to strengthen the role of local government as a partner in development and will discuss common issues faced by local authorities in the region in addition to recognising the role of local government in implementing the SDGs and strengthening policy for greater and more effective decentralisation and localisation of SDGs at the national level.

The regional meeting will be followed by a CALGA members meeting on 22 March and a half day roundtable session on the Trinidad and Tobago local government reform process on 23 March, which will enable local governments in the Caribbean to feed in and share their experiences.
