RegionalLED activities planned in Southern Africa

26 February 2013

CLGF members in Southern Africa came together at the South African Local Government Association (SALGA) offices in Pretoria, to initiate development of activities that will be taken forward in the region as part of the new DFID funded programme. Representatives from ministries of local government and local government associations were briefed on the project framework and the group identifies potential linkages with existing national and regional priorities.

The group agreed an outline work plan and provided detailed recommendations on the identification, development and implementation of the LED-based pilot projects.  The final report and documentation agreed at the meeting is currently being circulated, and CLGF will be finalising the detailed programming work in close consultation with its members, culminating in a further regional stakeholder event in Angola in April 2013. The programme in Southern Africa is being managed by Nyasha Simbanegavi and is part of a package of support to strengthen CLGF’s capacity building work across the Commonwealth.
