Supporting inclusive growth in cities campaign

17 March 2016
On the request of Cities Alliance, of which CLGF is a member, CLGF facilitated participation of mayors from member countries including Uganda and Ghana at the launch of the Inclusive Growth in Cities Campaign on 29 March in New York. CLGF supported the participation of Mayor Ibrahim Baidoo of Ashaiman, Ghana; Mayor Issahaku Nuhu-Putiaha, Wa Municipal Assembly, Ghana and Mayor Johnson Muyanja of Mukono Municipality, Uganda at the event. Mayors from cities across Asia, Europe, Africa and Latin America came together to launch the global campaign to address rising inequalities and foster inclusive growth in their cities, countries and across the world. These mayors will work together to advance the agenda put forth in the New York Proposal for Inclusive Growth in Cities and develop a roadmap for change, including changing the way we build and move within our cities, need for more affordable housing, effective transport networks, and quality infrastructure. A second meeting of the campaign will be held in Paris in November 2016.
