Training local councillors in Malawi

02 September 2015

Over 200 participants including councillors, MPs and other local officials from six councils including Blantyre City, Blantyre District, Nsanje, Chikwawa, Mwanza and Neno participated in a three-day CLGF councillor training held between 22 July and 7 August. CLGF together with its partners the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, Malawi and the Malawi Local Government Association is supporting various post-election training activities in the country to support newly elected councillors. CLGF also contributed to the production of a training guidebook and advocacy materials on local government, which are being widely used amongst councils as part of CLGF’s DFID-funded regional programme in the region to help promote local governance and democracy for better service delivery.
