CLGF Secretary-General receives honorary doctorate
CLGF Secretary-General Carl Wright has been honoured by the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) at the annual graduation ceremonies in April this year. Mr Wright was conferred with the honorary degree of Doctor of Administration for his outstanding contribution to local government, public administration, international co-operation, economic development and human rights. Encouraging young people to participate in decision making
The City of Port of Spain hosted the latest meeting of CLGFs Inclusive Cities Network where representatives from Canada, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Belize, Trinidad and Tobago, and the UK shared ideas and good practices on ways in which cities can best support their growing youth populations and engage them effectively in the work of the council. Strengthening LED in the Pacific
CLGF Pacific hosted the 2nd Pacific Local Government Forum in Honiara on 5-7 November. The Forum provided an opportunity to address current and emerging local government issues and challenges, set an agenda for local government reform, and strengthen intergovernmental relations and collaborative governance. The conference brought together 80 local government policy makers, practitioners and development partners across the Pacific. Read More

The post-2015 global development agenda must focus on inclusive development strategies and recognise local government as a key partner in development. Boost for local economic development in the Pacific
CLGF Pacific will be holding the second Pacific Local Government Forum (PLGF) in Honiara, Solomon Islands on 4 9 November 2012. The conference is the largest annual gathering of local government in the region and will bring together over 40 representatives from government ministries, local government associations and capital cities across eleven countries.
