Belize City taking the next step in sustainable mobility

16 September 2025
Belize City Council has extended congratulations and thanks to their project partners in the Sustainable Mobility project. The City is celebrating the successful handover of three new electric buses for intercity runs to transport passengers between districts.
A sustainable future for all
This is a milestone moment in the E-Mobility Pilot Project, which represents real progress toward cleaner, greener transportation and a more sustainable future for all Belizeans. As the many global challenges increase, including the rapid increase of populations and the existential threats of climate change, it is vital to introduce this new form of transport; one that is kinder to the environment, but still efficient and effective in allowing citizens to get around, whether it is for work, leisure or other purposes.
Partnership equals benefits
The City of Belize thanks the European Union, UNDP, and the Government of Belize, for their leadership and commitment in driving this vision forward. This is proof that when partners work collaboratively, communities thrive and people gain the benefits.
CSCN
The Commonwealth Sustainable Cities Network (CSCN)was established by CLGF to bring together the key players in building cities that would be successful, but also resilient to the many challenges that lay ahead. This is achieved through dialogue, discussion, shared learning. The Network is managed by CLGF Senior Programme Officer, Janine Xavier-Cross and more information about the work, including the Commonwealth Sustainable Cities Initiative, can be found on the web page.
