CLGC 2017: 100 day countdown

12 August 2017

With 12th August marking 100 days before the start of CLGF’s flagship event, the final countdown for the Commonwealth Local Government Conference 2017 has well and truly begun.

Taking place from 21 to 24 November in Valletta, Malta – an island in the Mediterranean, steeped in history, with a rich culture and abundance of natural beauty – Malta is also one of the Commonwealth’s thirty ‘Small Island States’.

The conference aims to change the way we think about, and approach local government financing and resourcing, providing a platform to revisit fiscal decentralisation and local revenue generation, and to explore innovative financing models.

Join 600 plus delegates from all spheres of government from across the commonwealth – including heads of government and ministers, local government leaders and practitioners, research pioneers and the private sector. This is an opportunity to share ideas and debate issues through keynote addresses provided by eminent speakers; working group sessions and breakaway groups; and informal networking, study visits and a vibrant cultural programme.

In addition to the main conference, visit the CLGC Expo 2017 in the imposing Sacra Infermeria Hall and meet a range of exhibitors. A one day Youth Forum will bring together young councillors, officials and civil society champions and entrepreneurs, with the recommendations feeding directly into the conference outcomes to be presented to CHOGM, the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in 2018.

Find out everything you need to know by going to the CLGC 2017 website, including information on how to register, visa requirements, accommodation and the new conference app.
