CLGF at LGAZ annual conference

18 April 2016

CLGF’s Regional Project Manager Nyasha Simbanegavi spoke at a session on local economic development at the annual conference of the Local Government Association of Zambia (LGAZ) and the AMICAALL General Assembly in Livingstone on 25-29 April. She shared updates on a series of CLGF pilot projects rolled out in Zambian councils including Kitwe, Kabwe, Chipata and Kaoma as part of CLGF’s project to improve local government service provision, community participation and economic potential in Zambia.

The conference brought together over 530 mayors, council chairpersons, councillors, town clerks and senior government officials from the region.

CLGF’s LED work in Zambia is part of its regional programme on Supporting local governance and local economic development in Southern Africa, which is designed to improve capacity (individual, institutional and organisational) for better local council service delivery within the context of developmental local government.

The DFID funded programme builds on CLGF’s previous work in the region, working with a range of local government stakeholders and runs from 2012-2016.
