CLGF: change at the top

12 February 2021

CLGF Secretary-General of the Commonwealth Local Government Forum Dr Greg Munro is leaving the organisation to take up the position of Director of Cities Alliance.

Relinquishing his post at the end of April, after almost five year with CLGF, Dr Munro said: “This new role represents a wonderful opportunity to focus on urban poverty with many partners, including CLGF. I will however be sorry to leave CLGF after an exciting time, in which the organisation has expanded, both in terms of the breadth and depth of its work. I believe CLGF will continue to grow and support its members in achieving empowered local government across the Commonwealth.”

In this time, CLGF has established the Commonwealth Women in Local Government Network and progressed the work of the Commonwealth Sustainable Cities Network, both playing an important role in two of CLGF’s key policy areas of empowering women and calling for the prioritisation of  sustainable urbanisation in the Commonwealth. In addition, more staff have been employed in the regions, with the successful completion and extension of various funded projects.

Having served on the Board of Cities Alliance, Dr Munro said: “I look forward to continuing my association with CLGF, working towards our shared aim of creating a better life for those in urban poverty.”
