CLGF conducts financial systems and operations review at PVMC

06 July 2015

CLGF recently conducted a review of Port Vila Municipal Council's (PVMC) financial system and operations and provided a scoping report on areas needing remedial action. The areas reviewed were initiation and recording of all financial transactions and its allocation and reporting in the General ledger system along with the overall financial operations.

The objective of this review was to assist PVMC in understanding the financial system and operation issues and to implement the recommendations and develop a detailed plan of action to:

  • enable PVMC to accurately, timely and efficiently record its financial transactions,
  • use the reports generated to make best decisions, and
  • ensure the general administration of the finance department is conducted in accordance the Vanuatu Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the Laws of Vanuatu.

The review was conducted by CLGF Finance Manager, Mr Shailendra Prasad based on structured methodology assessing the current financial system and operations of PVMC, identifying the key financial system and operations issues, developing remedial action for improved financial system and operations and providing a timeline and full a costing if the remedial action.
