4th World Forum of Local Economic Development

18 October 2017
CLGF is showcasing some of the excellent LED initiatives they are working on with member countries at the 4th World Forum of local Economic Development (LED) which is taking place in Cape Verde from 17-20 October.
The World Forum, which was started by UNDP in 2011, promotes open dialogue on LED, providing the opportunity to transform a global alliance of engaged actors into concrete partnerships at the country and local level. It also stimulates policies towards the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
An associate member of the Forum, CLGF is sponsoring the participation of four speakers at the event. Joining the gathering of national, regional, local government officials, practitioners and other stakeholders from all over the world, CLGF’s Southern Africa Regional Programme Manager Nyasha Simbanagevi and LED Adviser Phumla Ndaba have been taking part in a panel session with lively discussions on Enabling policies and measures for achieving territorial cohesion and LED: employment and decent work through youth and women economic empowerment.
They are joined by Mayor Leon George Thomas, Mayor of Portmore, Jamaica and Colisile Tfwala, LED Officer for the Municipality of Mbabane, Swaziland, also representing CLGF. Look out for more information about the event's outcomes in the coming weeks.
