CLGF signs MOU with Fiji Ministry

The Fiji Minster for Local Government, Housing and Environment, the Hon Parveen Kumar Bala signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between CLGF and the Ministry for Local Government, Housing and Environment on 23 May in Suva. The MOU focuses on the capacity building of towns and cities in Fiji and will provide support to local government, towns and cities in areas to strengthen governance and improve the quality of service delivery. It lays the foundation for future collaboration and partnership between CLGF and the Fiji Ministry for Local Government, Housing and Environment. This will enable local government to improve services for local people and help communities to flourish. CLGF Pacific Regional Director Karibaiti Taoaba joined with senior officials at the Ministry to formalise the partnership.

CLGF works with national and local government and other stakeholders in the Pacific region to strengthen local democracy, institutions and service delivery capacity. 

Speaking at the signing, CLGF director Karibaiti Taoaba said the MOU is a big step for the CLGF and she was looking forward to working together with the ministry to strengthen the partnership and help local governemnt improve services for local communities in Fiji.

CLGF's regional Pacific office is based in Suva, Fiji.
