CLGF signs MOU with the Municipal Association of Bangladesh

CLGF is delighted to welcome the Municipal Association of Bangladesh (MAB) to the membership of CLGF. This was marked by the signing of an MOU at the recent CLGF Board meeting in Sri Lanka. Mr Parimal Kumar Deb, CEO of MAB, was one of the speakers on a panel about Climate Action for Resilient Local Communities at the 2023 Commonwealth Local Government Conference in Kigali last year and Mr Dewan Kamal Ahmed, President of MAB was elected to the CLGF Board.

 

CLGF Secretary-General, Ms Lucy Slack, said: “We are delighted to have signed a formal agreement and we are looking forward to working with MAB and its members to build the capacity of urban government in Bangladesh, and also to share Bangladesh good practice with practitioners from cross CLGF, including through the Commonwealth Sustainable Cities Network (CSCN).” 

Bangladesh joins the WALL project

The successful WALL project, or Women As Local Legislatives, a self-mentoring Module to support and build the capacity of elected women representatives which originated in India, has been extended to several other countries, including Bangladesh.
