CLGF welcomes new patron

CLGF welcomes HE John Dramani Mahama, President of Ghana as its new honorary patron. 

President Mahama is regarded as a communication expert, historian and writer. He has also served as a former Member of Parliament and Minister of State, and former Vice-President of the Republic of Ghana – during this time he had engaged with CLGF and been a strong supporter of decentralisation.

President Mahama has also served as a member of the Pan African Parliament based in Pretoria, South Africa from 2004 to 2011 where he was Chairman of the West Africa Caucus.

CLGF has a long-standing cooperation with Ghana through the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development and the National Association of Local Authorities of Ghana (NALAG). In addition, CLGF has recently opened a regional programme office based at NALAG, Accra.
