Conversations on localising the SDGs

25 January 2018

CLGF’s Deputy Secretary General Lucy Slack has been discussing the role of local economic development and localising the Sustainable Development Goals in Barcelona this week. Presenting to a large gathering of organisations, local governments and cities involved in development, Lucy has been able to share the work that is being carried out by, and the achievements of CLGF members.

As well as addressing participants, Lucy also took part in a roundtable discussion, reporting on SDGs implementation and follow up of Local 2030. Secretary General Greg Munro also took part, talking about sustainable cities. Another key discussion point was local climate change finance, echoing the strong focus at the 2017 Local Government Conference in Valletta last November on tackling the issue.

The event is UCLG’s fourth Annual Retreat & Campus and is taking place from 22 to 26 January 2018. It provides an opportunity to harness the power of the network of organisations engaged in development and achieving the SDGs. It also continues the work based on the collaboration and achievements of the last few years to increase visibility and impact at alll levels
