New CLGF-backed waste management project in Swaziland

10 February 2015

A new waste management capacity-building project was launched in Matsapha, Swaziland on 10 February where the town has long suffered from rubbish being disposed of at the side of the road. The project is one of CLGF’s activities in Swaziland that are part of CLGF’s DFID-funded programme in Southern Africa.

It will help to deliver better administration and planning for a more effective waste management strategy, contributing the overall environment to boost local economic development.. At the launch the Matsapha Town Board and local Inkhundla signed a memorandum on how the project will operate including training workers on collecting rubbish to clean up the town’s streets.

In addition to CLGF, the project is also supported by the Swaziland Water Authority and will have technical assistance from a number of private companies.
