Sri Lanka: CLGF knowledge sharing

06 August 2017

CLGF last week presented the Provincial Councils and Local Government Ministry with a series of knowledge sharing materials in the form of a publication for use by councils.

The publication is based on a CLGF project implemented in six provinces of Sri Lanka between 2013 and 2017. It captures 23 best practice themes and activities relating to participatory government, revenue enhancement and local government planning and management. Entitled ‘Knowledge Captured Materials’, the publication was given to the Minister, Hon Faiszer Musthapha and Mr Kamal Pathmasiri, Secretary of the Ministry.

The materials explained each of the themes and lessons learned, highlighting the potential use and target audiences in local languages.

CLGF Project Manager for Sri Lanka’s national programme, Mr RajahShanmugarajah, explained: "The project was a great success and it is really pleasing to be able to deliver comprehensive details of the lessons learned to enable more local councils to adapt, implement and benefit from this work."

Funded by the Commonwealth Secretariat and DFID, the publication has been shared with all nine provinces and stakeholders such as UNDP and The Asia Foundation.
