Working towards helping set up a LGA in Lesotho

18 February 2015

Building on CLGF’s ongoing work to promote and protect the interests of local government in Southern Africa – CLGF joined with SARO representatives Maurice Mbolela, Executive Secretary at Local Government Association of Zambia, and Ketlhomilwe Moletsane, Secretary General of the Botswana Association of Local Authorities (BALA), to participate in a workshop to support the establishment of a local government association in Lesotho.

Supported by the Lesotho Ministry of Local Government and Parliamentary Affairs and other partners, including UNDP, the workshop took place in Maseru on 17-18 February. Participants discussed the benefits of having a local government association, its role and responsibilities, development of TORs and other legalities in addition to hearing about the experience of setting up other LGAs within the region.
