CLGF Secretary-General Carl Wright moderated a high level discussion on Cooperating to advance the new post-2015 development agenda: challenges and opportunities for local economic development (LED) at the 3rd World Forum on LED in Turin on 16 October which allowed him to highlight the key role local and regional government will play in not only LED but also in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon gave the keynote address at this session where he highlighted the key role of local government in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Read More

Scoping mission LoCAL-Tuvalu
The United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) and the Commonwealth Local Government Forum (CLGF), based in Fiji, conducted a scoping mission from August 27 - September 10 in Tuvalu for the design of the LoCAL mechanism. Tuvalu is the first country in the Pacific where the LoCAL mechanism will be designed. Read More
Experts help Indian municipalities to develop LED
Two Indian cities have been chosen for pilot LED projects that bring together local government practitioners and LED experts from different Commonwealth countries to share experience and best practice with Indian city and municipality administrators. The experts will help build knowledge and understanding on LED and develop work programmes in the two partner cities Indore and Jaipur. Read More
