CLGF joins Commonwealth leaders at CHOGM 2026
02 November 2026
The Commonwealth Heads of Government are gathering from 1 to 4 November in Antigua and Barbuda for their biennial summit. This is where Commonwealth leaders address many of the key challenges facing member states, review achievements, and set policy to guide their priorities and work going forward. The Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting 2026 (CHOGM) is taking place under the theme of “Accelerating Partnerships and Investment for a Prosperous Commonwealth”.
CLGF has a delegation attending CHOGM, led by Mayor Benard Wagner (Belize City), Chairperson of CLGF, alongside fellow Board Member Cllr Ronillia Williams from the Dominica Association of Local Community Authorities (DALCA), and CLGF Secretary-General Lucy Slack. In addition to the main sessions, there are four thematic forums and four side events taking place, with CLGF participating across these.
- Mayor Wagner will be speaking at the Smart Cities Roundtable at the Commonwealth Business Forum, and in one of the four official side events on Democracy and Inclusion - organised by CLGF's sister organisation, the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association.
- Cllr Williams will be a panellist in a session on Women in Leadership, and CLGF Secretary-General will also address the Women's Forum.
On Wednesday, CLGF will be participating in the Foreign Ministers' Roundtable with Commonwealth Intergovernmental Organisations, Accredited Organisations and Civil Society. This is a unique opportunity to share the work of associated organisations, including CLGF, and to look at practical ways to strengthen partnerships and improve impact across the Commonwealth through closer cooperation.
