CLGF and its partners successfully highlighted the role of local government in development at the European Development Days held in June. Working collaboratively with other members of the local government family AIMF, PLATFORMA, UCLG, UCLGA the partners created a joint stand at the event to provide information on policy and project work. Boosting resources for local government
There needs to be a fairer distribution of public revenues between levels of government and local governments capacity to collect its own resources should be strengthened so that local government can be properly resourced to meet its commitments, said CLGF Board member Mayor Darrell Bradley speaking at the experts round table session on Domestic and international public resources as part of the local government discussions at the ECOSOC Forum on Financing for Development in New York from 22-15 May 2017. First all female council for Vanuatu village
Striking a blow for gender equality, Sunai Village on the island of Moso has taken the lead in empowering women in their community by choosing a woman to head up its Village Tribunal Council. New Chairwoman, Mrs Leimalu Tapasei, was appointed by the female Executive, to make it the first all female council in the villages history. Read More
CLGF informs preparations for 4th LED World Forum
CLGF made an important contribution to the initial preparatory meeting for the 4th World LED Forum which will take place next October in Cabo Verde.
