Workshop plans priorities to strengthen LGAs in Pakistan

Pakistan – cleaning up with e-governance
The Local Councils Association of the Punjab has established a model to meaningfully engage with remote and dispersed local councillors through online Digital Local Council (DLC) in seven districts of Punjab. More than 1,400 councillors have initially been empowered to use the digital local council system, allowing them to send complaints, highlight deficiencies, make suggestions and follow up issues to ensure they are resolved with the relevant departments. CLGF is supporting #BECOUNTED for more local elected women
CLGF is supporting the #BECOUNTED campaign to see an increase in locally elected women which is being launched today, 8 March, International Womens Day 2017. CLGF is partnering with United Cities and Local Government (UCLG) and UN Women to underline the importance of increasing the proportion of women in locally elected office as part of the global commitment set out in Sustainable Development Goal 5 on gender equality and womens empowerment. New project promotes local government priorities in Pakistan
Pakistans Association for Development and Local Governance (ADLG), the four provincial local government associations and eight district councils are set to benefit from a new CLGF project to strengthen the associations and enhance the contribution of local government to governance and development in Pakistan.
