CLGF projects in East Africa

These programmes are helping CLGF to strengthen its regional presences and work more closely with members and build on the success of past activities. More detailed information about activities and projects can be found on the country pages. 

Strengthening local government’s role as a partner in development EC (2014 - 2017)

Within the framework of the strategic partnership  between CLGF and the EC this project seeks to align efforts to implement EC policy on empowering local authorities in partner countries for enhanced governance and more effective development. In East Africa it will support local government organisations and institutions in the region to come together, share experience and develop a joint position on localising the SDGs, as well as build their capacity to interact with their national EC delegations.

This project will also continue to support the network of exchange established through the EALGF as well as the on-going dialogue with the East African Community (EAC). The project will support one national pilot project on localising the SDGs through policy and practical actions at both the national and local level.
