CLGF has chosen International Women's Day to publish its web and Facebook pages dedicated to the new Commonwealth Women in Local Government Network - ComWLG. As CLGF members and associates from across the Commonwealth mark International Women's Day 2018, CLGF offers congratulations to all the remarkable women who have achieved so much - internationally, regionally and, very importantly, locally; and also to the men who have played a part in bringing about change. However, while significant progress has been made, and the important advocacy and campaigning work continues, statistics show that there is still much to do to achieve full parity and equality of opportunity in many areas. Local government greetings to the Commonwealth Games
Every four years, communities and local and national governments come together to host and maximise the benefits of the Commonwealth Games; a global celebration of sport, community and culture. The Games begin soon on Australias Gold Coast, taking place from 4 to 15 April 2018 with over 6,500 athletes and officials from every Commonwealth nation and territory. Read More

Uganda partnership working

The Uganda Local Government Association (ULGA) has just secured EU funding from the 11th European Develop Fund (EDF) to support projects around infrastructure, local government capacity building and food security. As part of CLGFs Framework Partnership Agreement with the EU, it receives a grant to work in different regions to localise the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); one part of this work is to help member organisations connect more effectively with their in-country EU delegation, to learn more about funding opportunities like the EDF.
